Barclays, in association with international accelerator Techstars has launched a global startup accelerator program to hunt 10 global startups operating in the financial technology (FinTech) market.
The idea is to find new emerging companies that can “shape the future of financial services”.
The Barclays Accelerator is a three month intensive startup programme designed to support new businesses working in FinTech market and provide access to seed funding, office facilities in London’s Mile-End and mentoring from leading Barclays and Techstars executives, including Techstars founder and CEO David Cohen.
Speaking at launch, David Cohen, founder and CEO of Techstars said, “We are excited to partner with Barclays on the next wave in FinTech. It’s a great opportunity for those entrepreneurs who have the right ideas that will make a difference in banking, whether it’s a new payment solution or a financial management tool.”
Starting from June 2014, the program will accept applications from startups across the world. The accelerator will select 10 companies initially, with a wider goal of incubating sixty companies in total over the next 3 years.
