Safari Bags to tap the online consumer base with its soon to be launched eStore

safari-1Indian travel bags and luggage brand, Safari bags is soon going to add online sales as a part of its expansion strategy. Travel bags retailer, is now in plans to bring all its products available to the customers by launching an online retail store

The webstore is expected to go live on 15th of this month, recently the company had done a dry run of the same, and according to it, the customers had shown a decent response during that period and were buying a wide variety of products. The average ticket size was approximately INR 1500 for that period of time.

Speaking over the reason behind introducing this new channel of sales, Mr. Sudhir M. Jatia, Chairman & Managing Director, Safari (India), said, “the vertical gives us an opportunity to address a section of consumers who prefer going online to buy products.” The company also sees the online commerce platform as an opportunity to display their vast range of products across major travel product categories, all at one place.

The webstore has segregated all the products based on their usability such as four wheel, two wheel, duffel, business case, suitcase, bag packs etc.

The website has an organised and minimalistic design. Customers can sort and shop for products based on color, size, price, and availability i.e online or offline.

On the product details page, all the important product related information has been mentioned with images, key features, additional features, interior material etc.

Apart from launching an online store, Safari is currently also in process of enlisting its products on various portals and marketplaces and feels optimistic of doing well in the online retail initiative.

The company plans to leverage display and search solutions to increase awareness of brand and its offerings.

The webstore currently has over 100 – 150 SKU enlisted and in over next 2 years it plans to increase it to 300 SKUs.

“The category is undergoing quite a lot of change and new trends are emerging with new challenges. It is important to develop efficiencies and effectiveness across all functions… Our eCommerce store has been built keeping in mind scale and the ability to rapidly add new features and evolve in the coming months. This will ensure that we stay ahead of the curve in order to seize the new opportunities the category would keep throwing up,” said Mr. Sudhir M. Jatia, Chairman & Managing Director, Safari (India).

The company is offering free shipping and accepts all common modes of payment including cash on delivery.

There are other online retail marketplaces which already offer travel bags etc. In this category few other brands include VIP (which already has an online store), American Tourister etc. Bagskart is yet another retailer dealing in the same category.
