Philips to enter eCommerce; Fashionandyou’s wedding mall; Start Sports & Twitter partnership; launches Child-friendliness index;

After changing its name from Philips Electronics India to Philips India, the company now has plans to launch its eStore so as to have a platform dedicated towards selling its own consumer products online in the country.

“Philips will also launch its own eStore in India for consumer products, since in some segments like personal care products almost 15% of the sales are generated from eCommerce, said Vivek Sharma, CMO, Philips India.

The company has decided to focus more on digital business in the country and has also said that it is trying to integrate consumer business after-sales in social media like Facebook and Twitter where it will listen to consumers and service their needs.

India is currently the sixth largest market for Philips, the company had recently also changed its logo and tagline which earlier was ‘innovation and you’ and now it has been changed to ‘sense and simplicity’.

Philips deals with product categories including – electronics, personal care, household products etc.

Online fashion and lifestyle retailer, Fashionandyou has recently launched a virtual wedding mall on the website to segregate the deals and discounts on wedding related products.

The collection will be comprising of sarees, kurtas with palazzos, ornate clutches, studded stilettos, jewellery etc.  i.e. all products being required from pre-bridal preparations till the honeymoon, will be available at the new wedding mall.

It will also be offering giftables and home décor products.

A few of the brands whose products will be available on the wedding mall will include Brijraj, Forever new, Gitanjali, American Tourister, Carlton London etc.

Fashionandyou would be the second eTailer this season who introduced Wedding related category on the store, previously Snapdeal had also introduced a Wedding Store. partners with Twitter and Twitter has recently entered into a partnership which will allow Twitter users to directly view videos in-stream, without leaving Twitter.

As part of the partnership, whenever a link to is tweeted, Twitter users on mobile will have the option to download the App.

Earlier, @starsportsindia had become the one of first ‘handles’ that viewers could follow through Twitter’s SMS service and choose to receive tweets from the account as texts, it already has over 1.5 lakh followers. was launched in June, it allows users to view live videos and gives them a complete control of their viewing experience, including a video timeline that allows him the ability to watch exciting moments of the game in an easy and intuitive fashion. launches child friendlyness index

Nexus backed real estate portal, has recently created a heat map to visualise the child friendliness of an area, with which people looking for house now will be able to make sure that its in a neighbourhood good for children.

The index measures neighbourhoods on three criterias i.e. the number of schools, hospitals and parks in an area, as well as the proximity of these facilities to the areas.

The most child friendly areas appear in red, the least child-friendly areas appear green.

This feature is currently only available in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. The company will be expanding it to other cities as well as. and will be looking forward to expand this feature in all cities listed in Housing’s agenda.
