In a world filled with smart technology and people addicted to smartphones, the upcoming trend is technology that one can wear and move around in. Along with devices like a smartwatch, glasses and footwear, we now have a smart trench coat in the market.
‘M’ by Motiif is a smart coat that helps you stay connected on the go, as it acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot and a wireless phone charger.
The coat comes with 4G LTE connection by Karma, a pay-as-you-go Internet provider in US. Karma runs on Sprint’s network, and claims to provide connectivity in over 80 US cities
The coat further has a specialized chest pocket for wireless charging of the user’s smartphone. According to Motiif, the pocket is designed optimally for iPhone 4s and 5s, and Samsung Galaxy 3 and 4.
It will also come with a dedicated smartphone app that will integrate with the coat to provide the user with weather updates and advice on if and when they should wear the coat.
The coat will have a battery life of 6-8 hours. To recharge the coat users will need to simply hang it on a hanger that includes a wireless charging pad.
Made with Nano-tech infused fabric, Motiif claims the coat is 100% waterproof.
The company has recently launched an alpha tester group, a set of around 300 selected individuals, to try and test the coat and identify possible bugs and issues. The coat is expected to launch in February 2014.
