Pop- Star Justin Bieber recently has invested USD 1.1. Mn in a yet to be launched social media app called Shots Of Me which has been developed by Rocklive and is expected to be launched later this week on iPhone and iPad.
There is not much information available regarding the app, but as per reports, it is targeted towards teenagers and will address issues like cyberbullying.
Justin is the second celebrity who has invested in the app, previously raised funds from boxer Floyd Mayweather as well. With this round, total funds raised by the startups has reached USD 2.7 Mn.
In an interaction with Fortune, John Shahidi, CEO, RockLive said, “We got to know Justin after he began playing our games and tweeting about it.. He’s been very involved in our products, helping us test things and providing feedback… When we told him that we were looking to create a social network for teens that really addresses what they aren’t getting on other networks, and which tries to deal with things like cyber-bullying, his eyes just lit up.”
It will be interesting to see how Justin Bieber who has more than 4.6 Mn followers on Twitter will have influence on usage of the app.
RockLive was founded a few years back by John Shahidi and Sam Shahidi.
Last year Bieber has also joined in the boards of video-sharing sensation Viddy which was recently rebranded as Supernova. Bieber also has investment in a recommendation startup called Stamped which allows one to track of and share the things they like with friends, such as restaurants, books, films and other apps.
