IAN now accepting applications for ‘Startup Dosti’, an initiative to connect India, Pakistan entrepreneurs

Indian-Angel-NetworkIndian Angel Network (IAN), announced today that it is now accepting the applications for its Cross-Border Business Plan Competition – Startup Dosti. The deadline for applications is November 30, 2013.

The program allows any early-stage company and concept stage startup from India and Pakistan across verticals to send applications. The shortlisted teams will get the opportunity to earn incubation, mentorship, and investment from various investors in Thailand, during the period of a week’s time.

Started in partnership with Karachi-London based SEED Ventures and the Washington DC based Atlantic Council, Startup Dosti is IAN’s another international initiative taken with an idea to connect entrepreneurs from India, Pakistan, and the Diaspora community and facilitate collaboration.

“Startup Dosti will interconnect the entrepreneurial communities across India and Pakistan, thus creating a platform for exchange of ideas, mentoring, assistance in access to markets. Given the similarities in the market stages in India and Pakistan, entrepreneurs from both countries can now look forward to assisted access to a significantly sized market in their neighborhood” said Padmaja Ruparel, President, Indian Angel Network.

Indian Angel Network has close to 250 members and has funded nearly 60 startups across multiple sectors like IT, Mobile, Healthcare and Education, Gaming, Hospitality, Semiconductors across India and overseas and has made several successful exits

This is not IAN’s first international initiative. Last year, the network launched Venture Engine in Sri Lanka to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.
