Online lifestyle retailer Goodlife seems be moving towards a shutdown as the website has stopped taking new orders and a note is being displayed on the website which reads – “Temporarily, we are not taking any new orders on Goodlife.com.”
Though the reason behind the same is unclear, but if we go by the industry speculations, Goodlife was going to shut the webstore and was going through a cash crunch situation in its operations.
The following note is being displayed on the website.
The company earlier was actively promoting its products on social media sites like Facebook, but was silent on social network since mid July. Earlier, we had also written to Supam for the same, but his reply is awaited.
Goodlife was a sister company of Firstcry and was dealing in beauty and wellness products, but later expanded to home decor and kitchen categories. Both Firstcry and Goodlife had an integrated interface, so that customers could easily switch between the two while shopping.
BrainBees Solutions Private Limited which is the parent company for FirstCry and Goodlife was founded by Supam Maheshwari, and Amitava Saha, and is backed by USD 14 Mn in funding from VC’s such as IDG Ventures India & SAIF Partners.
Iamwire Take: Well, what worked for Diapers.com in US might not work in India, and again the current situation of Goodlife highlights the challenges in the category it was dealing in. For now, the exact reason for this cease is unclear, but in our view the parent company will focus on Firstcry, as Goodlife was turning out to be a non-viable model, in terms of the approach they had taken towards building it.
