Bangalore based company Gecko, which has developed a small, low powered bluetooth device of the same name, that can gesture control smartphones and can be used to track things, has successfully completed its goal of raising USD 50,000 through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
Apple’s co founder Steve Wozniak, is also one of the first investors to back Gecko.
At the point of writing this story, Gecko had raised USD 57,411 from 1648 backers.
The fund raising campaign on Indiegogo was started on Sept.11, 2013 and will continue till Oct. 26, 2013 i.e. still 15 days to go.
With Gecko one can trigger, secure, remind, capture, track and find things. It can be used to control one’s mobile by shaking or turning it. Gecko can be synced to the smartphone’s camera or a DSLR to click photos, as a security feature it can even be attached to a door and one receives alert whenever the door opens.
The device currently works for iOS and a few Android devices such as Samsung Galaxy S4 and Nexus 7.
The company has signed a contract with a Chinese manufacturer and the device is expected to be available from December this year.
Gecko is product of Connovate Technology Pvt Ltd, which was founded in 2012 by Bahubali Shete, Kirankumar Rajarao, Sundaraparipurnan Varadarajan. It is a design engineering & product solutions company with a core focus on product design and development for consumer electronics (CE), and home automation markets.
