Mumbai based Shopsense, has raised seed round led by Kae Capital, group of angels under Powai Lake Ventures, and angel investor Jehaan Mehta to build smart technology for retailers.
The amount of funding has been left undisclosed for now.
Farooq Adam, Cofounder, Shopsense said that the funding will allow them to set up an efficient development team, which will improve their technology further.
Shopsense uses the latest in digital interaction technology that makes shopping fun and enjoyable. It works at the intersection of technology and retail to develop and deploy ways to engage consumers which helps retailers better understand their shoppers.
Sasha Mirchandani, MD, Kae Capital also believes that the amalgamation of technology in retail is needed and has the potential to make shopping highly interactive.
Shopsense was founded by a bunch of IIT Bombay graduates in 2012 Farooq Adam, Harsh Shah and Sreeraman MG.
KAE Capital, founded by former BlueRun Ventures India head Sasha Mirchandani, is backed by venture capital firms Sequoia Capital, SAIF Partners and Omidyar Network, among other investors. It typically plays in the pre series,with per deal ticket sizes being between USD 200,000 and USD 500,000. PLV is a group of angel investors investing in early stage startups. It has also invested in Ola Cabs, Housing.co.in, Chaayos and Tushky.
