Online professional certification course platform, Simplilearn raises USD 10 million

simplilearn-logoBangalore based online education platform, Simplilearn which provides professional certification courses has recently raised USD 10 million in series B round led by Helion Venture Partners and its existing investor Kalaari Capital.

Simplilearn had previously raised a round led by Kalaari in 2012 which it had deployed for expanding its portfolio of certification courses and also to add newer geographies. The recently raised funds will be used by the company to expand its current course catalog, for expanding its team members in the US, UK, Australia & Middle East and also for launching mobile apps.

Launched back in 2009 by Krishna Kumar, Simplilearn provides a suite of professional certification courses that address unique learning needs of working professionals. The company claims that it had trained over 75,000 professionals across 150 countries up-till now, which was 20,000+ professionals across 50+ countries in June 2012.

In January this year Simplilearn acquired a US based SAP training organization and began delivering SAP certification training also.

Currently, it offers around 80 courses in Project Management, IT Services Management, IT Security Management, Quality Management, Financial Management, etc.

Other similar startups that raised funds in this domain include eDreams Edusoft, Edukart, CultureAlley, etc. creating some traction and excitement in overall opportunity in online learning.
