Coupondunia expands to 4 international markets

couponduniaMumbai based online coupon service, Coupondunia, has recently expanded its operations to 4 international destinations by launching country specific websites. These include Indonesia, Brazil, Turkey and Poland.

The company believes that online coupon as a category has a similar opportunity in Indonesia as it has in India. Whereas Brazil, Poland and Turkey already have coupon sites but without a dominant market leader, thus it sees an opportunity in these countries.

Explaining about the market opportunity in these countries Sameer Parwani, CEO, Coupondunia, said β€œIt will be interesting to see how it plays out. When we entered India, digital coupons were not a big thing. We spent a lot of time on educating merchants on the benefits of affiliate marketing and giving coupons as well as introducing the concept to users. We’re sure we’ll face the same struggle in other countries, but we’re hopeful we’ll end up with the same growth we saw in India because the value proposition of couponing is clear. Users save money on their purchases, so they love coupons. And merchants see a bump in sales at a user acquisition cost which is almost always lower than other marketing channels such as adwords or display advertising.”

Just like other coupon sites, Coupondunia also earns commission from online stores on every purchase that shopper makes via an offer posted by it.

Founded in 2011, Coupondunia claims to get over 1 million visits a month and is witnessing an excellent growth since its launch. It currently lists around 1,240 stores including Flipkart, Myntra, Homeshop18, Jabong, etc.

In India, Coupondunia competes with Cashkaro (raised USD 750,000), Couponation, Couponhut, Zoutons (recently raised 20 lakh in seed funding) and few others.
