Sequoia looking to invest around USD 10mn in Indian travel gear maker Wildcraft

WildcraftVC firm Sequoia Capital is speculated to invest in Bangalore based outdoor gear startup Wildcraft with USD 10 million investment as per the reports in Times of India.

The report even states the interest of Norwest Venture Partners to co-invest in the round, valuing the company at around USD 50mn.

Wildcraft was started by KS Dinesh as garage hobby in early 90’s and  today it has its own in-house R&D team and a captive manufacturing setup in Bangalore and Solan employing around 1500 people.

As per its webstore, Wildcraft has more than a million customers and presence in more than 1000 multi brand stores, 200 shop-in-shops and 60 exclusive stores in over 50 cities including Ahmedabad, Kochi, Gurgaon, Delhi, Shimla, etc and revenues topping INR 100 cr.

The products available on the website includes travel gear, camping gear, tents, sleeping bags, camera bags, footwear and apparel.

Till now, Sequoia Capital has invested close to USD 1 billion in India’s emerging companies, which also include its investment in food chain startup Fassos, Cafe Coffee Day, Pratap Snacks and participated in recent USD 8mn investment round in Energy drink brand TZinga.
