Samsung launches UI in 9 Indian languages for its Smartphone and Tablet users

samsungSamsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital technologies, recently launched its user interface for Smartphone and tablet users in 9 Indian languages, viz. Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati. These will be initially supported on Samsung Galaxy Grand, Galaxy S4 and Tab 3.

For a country like India, which is known for its wide disparities, especially in language, this initiative will open up an entirely new breed of consumers for Samsung. The Samsung users can now  access applications from the Samsung Application Store in their favourite language in various categories ranging from entertainment, games, utility, lifestyle, devotional and business.

Also, on selected Samsung devices, users can experience Chaton, Facebook, Gmail and Newshunt in their own language. Some of the popular apps available in Indian languages through Samsung devices include Bharat Matrimony, Ganesh speak, India property, Times of India, BSE and Mydala.

In association with Reverie Language Technologies, Samsung has launched the Reverie PhoneBook Application on Samsung Smart Phones. As said by Arvind Pani, Co-Founder & CEO of Reverie Language Technologies, it will allow users for the first time, to use phonebook in the language of their choice.

Currently the languages supported on the Reverie PhoneBook are Hindi, Gujarati, Gurumukhi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English. The Reverie PhoneBook Application is available on Samsung App Store free of cost till Dec 31, 2013.

As per Mr. Vineet Taneja, Country Head, Samsung Mobile and IT, Samsung India, the Samsung team is not only working with content providers towards making more regional language content available, but there aim is to develop the eco system by working with app developers so that more Indian consumers can enjoy their mobile experience in their own language.

The company is also planning to increase the number of languages and to enhance the availability of regional language content to its more affordable Smart phone range starting with Galaxy Star within this month.
