Bangalore based, Plustxt Mobile Solutions which had earlier raised undisclosed amount of funding from Mumbai and Bangalore Angels has announced that the startup has been acquired by One97, stated the website.
Though other details of the acquisition haven’t been disclosed, but according to Medianama, One97 has acquired Plustxt for USD 2mn.
Commenting over the acquisition, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO, One97, said, “We are looking to become the largest digital goods marketplace in India and messengers are the destination where consumer is buying loads of them. Plustxt team has created a scalable platform with many firsts focusing on Indian needs. For masses to use mobile internet we need many language products and Plustxt has done very well in that area.”

Plustxt has developed a text messaging app that can be optimized for Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada and Tamil for sending and receiving text messages. It also provides privacy controls, secure storage, and a high-speed messaging platform offering integrated IM and SMS.
As per the reports, after the acquisition, Plustxt team will be joining the One97′s Bangalore office.
Plustxt was co-founded by IIT-Kharagpur and IIM-Calcutta alumnus Pratyush Prasanna and the company was also one of the Final 11 of the Microsoft Accelerator Program for Windows Azure.
One97 was launched in 2000, it provides mobile content, advertising and commerce services to millions of mobile consumers and in a prior interaction with iamwire Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO, One97, has shared that One97 services gets 530 mn active users every month. In december last year it had also acquired a self-service mobile marketing platform, Mobivite.
