OLX captures 60% online classified market share in India
According to the latest release shared by OLX India, it has managed to capture 60% of the online classified marketshare. As per the company, its traffic has grown 55 times in the last 22 months and crossed half a billion page views in July 2013 (Trending at 600 Mn PVs in August 2013). Also, OLX.in’s 2 year CAGR of 653% is significantly ahead of the 32% CAGR for India Internet over the same period.
Personal used products such as mobiles, computers, electronics, furniture, cars and bikes comprises of 70% of the new ads that are being listed and 92% of sellers in these categories are individuals. Also, mobile traffic for OLX.in has grown from 5% overall traffic in January 2012 to 52% of overall traffic in July 2013, OLX mobile apps have exceeded 3.2 Mn app downloads in India.
Well credit must go to constant presence via TVC and yes a compelling campaign. Though we do find people developing affinity towards OLX brand and their purpose to sell used stuff is getting served well.
OLX offers a free, fast & hyper-local way for customers to buy, sell or exchange used goods and services, by posting a free ad on the website. It is present in various other markets including Brazil, Portugal, Pakistan, etc.
Flipkart launches Voice Search feature for product discovery on their website
Online marketplace, Flipkart has recently added a voice search feature on its website which works similarly to Google’s voice search works.
The new feature will allow users to search products on the website without having to type in their searches, customers can click on the mic icon and speak. The service will save time and will come handy at the times when users are unable to spell the words correctly.
Well, Flipkart is not the first online retailer to add the voice search feature, as Homeshop18 already has this feature on the website.
The feature is not available for mobile users for now. The development was first reported by NextBigWhat.
Recently, Flipkart had raised USD 200 million from Tiger Global, Naspers and Accel Partners. It had introduced eBooks App for iOS, Windows Phone and browser and had also launched payment gateway service, Payzippy.
Cash back site Cashkaro adds restaurant discounts
Cashback and Coupon website, Cashkaro which had recently raised USD 750,000 in seed funding from UK based group of angel investors, has added restaurant discounts on the website. The company had tied up with 500 restaurants in Delhi and Mumbai to offer up to 30% discounts to its members.
To avail the discount, users just need to register at the restaurant using Cashkaro, a code will be sent to customer’s mobile, which can be shown at the restaurant.
Cashkaro has its presence in UK market since past two years via name Pouring Pounds which runs 4 cashback sites in UK. In India, where it had just expanded operations, it has tied up with 300+ brands including Myntra, Snapdeal, Yatra, Makemytrip.
