Virtual classrooms, online test preparations and online examinations might be the trendsetters for now when it comes to online learning, where as arts like dance, makeup, etc has always remained limited to Youtube videos when one wants to learn about that online.
At the time when a number of dance reality shows like Dance India Dance, Jhalak Dhikhla Jaa, Nach Baliye has captured the entire Indian television screens, the enthusiasm and passion to learn dance among people is now something common. The growing trend has even bought a number of dance academies being launched a number of cities, but these still remain limited to a particular area, and not able to reach much wider level of population.
But who thought that this art could even be taken to a level that anyone from any place could easily get a dip into the training by just few clicks? Well after various Bollywood stars like Malaika Arora Khan, Neha Dhupia, Salman Khan, who tasted the crisp of internet by launching their online stores, its now Madhuri Dixit who is getting closer to Indian online population with launch of her online dance academy Dance With Madhuri.
Dance With Madhuri, has gone live on June 14 this year and has already crossed more than 54,000 dancers who had visited the website, well that was bound to happen as its a unique initiative and obviously the glam of Madhuri involved is enough to get people to log in.
According to Yourstory, who reported this earlier, through this initiative Madhuri Dixit will aim to help people stay fit combining Dance and Exercise and it will module ‘Dancercise’. “It’s a combination of dance & exercise and a fun way of staying in shape.”
To get more users or say dance freaks to bring on the platform, the website is also running a contest where users can upload their video (as private and public) and a winner every week will be rewarded with an iPad.
Tweets by Madhuri reveals that the website will be uploading new classes and songs on every other Friday. Dance styles that are available for now includes Contemporary, HipHop, Salsa, etc.
‘Dance with Madhuri’ now will add into a new genre of hobby or interest learning portals in India. Though the online product is based on video tutorials which users can watch only after logging in, the product will still need lot of design improvements to increase it user friendliness. It also lacks in navigation and user engagement, and presently just a classification of dance videos under trainers and styles.
