India Quotient backed launches, catering needs of fish lovers

fishspot-logoPetsGlam Services Pvt. Ltd., which also owns the ecommerce portal catering to the pet supplies (dog, cat, birds,etc), has now ventured into another niche category and has launched a new web-store catering to all the needs of fish lovers.

The company was already selling Fish products through DogSpot since past few months and has now launched the meta site which has gone live yesterday i.e. 5th August 2013.

Speaking over the market opportunity in this niche category, Rana Atheya, Founder-CEO,, said, “The total pet industry size in India stands slightly more than Rs 1000 Crore, we see this as an exciting opportunity to tap. The most exciting bit is that we already have a platform set by DogSpot and have an early mover’s advantage.”

Just like Dogspot, FishSpot will also provide information on fishes as well as fish-related products like fish food, aquariums, aquarium decorations, filters and heaters. It will offer products for both marine water and fresh water aquarium owners.

In addition to the fish products, the website also offers products for the reptile owners. This includes terrarium for turtles, snakes and lizards. It will also offer a wide range of reptile food, basking area, etc.

Currently, the website lists approximately 700 products and 20 brands including Sera, Hiblow, Tetra, etc. It aims to exceed the target of 1000 products in coming two months. The company also has an exclusive tie-up with Fluval, which is one of the leading European brands for aquarium products under the umbrella of German giant Hagen.

Fishspot plans to use a 360 degree marketing approach for reaching out to its potential customers through both online and offline mediums. It has a substantial following on Facebook and has already crossed more than 9k likes. It also plans to sponsor AquaScapes in corporate and initiate aquarium keeping workshops and events to help people evangelizing towards this hobby.

The company will be delivering all over India and has tied up with Speedpost as its logistics partner. FishSpot will be using the same ops backbone which was created for DogSpot.

In the coming times it plans to add cat and bird focused websites as well. “Indian pet industry is the fastest growing pet industry globally.  We plan to establish our properties as leading brands by launching private labels as well as connecting with our customers through events and workshops,” said Rana

Pets Glam Services Pvt. Ltd. was founded by Rana Atheya, Vizal Atheya, Ankur Tandon and Shalesh Visen. Its previous venture had raised undiclosed amount of funds from India Quotient in February this year and has 3500 products available on the website, delivering to more than 500 cities. In terms of the numbers, Dogspot has already serviced more than 5000 customers and has delivered more than 25K shipments till date.
