Indian conglomerate, GVK group family, too cannot resist the ecommerce wave in the country as family Junior G V Keshav Reddy and along-with his friend Ishaan Dodhiwala has launched a new pure play online apparels private label i.e. The Indian Brand.
The web-store is pitching customers over a social cause where if a customer purchase any of THE INDIAN product, one under privileged Indian gets it too.
As per the story on the website, the founder G V Keshav Reddy & Ishaan Dodhiwala wanted to build a ‘social enterprise’ to promote the pride of being Indian amongst young Indians and coherently make a difference through their giving initiative – “One for you, One for me”. Well it may or may not work as a social cause, but this is actually not the key social problem if we look around.
The web-store which has just gone live currently lists only 3 products i.e a The Indian Polo T Shirt in 3 different colors, sure Indians will die to own it?
The web-store is targeted towards Indian youth and the pricing for the Polo T-Shirts is fixed at INR 999 a piece, including freight charges. As of now products are only available for men, women apparels might be added in future.
It will be providing free shipping all over India and has tied up with Gati Limited to manage logistics. It claims to deliver products within one day in any metro and plans to reach 7,000 places across the country and almost all Tier VI towns.
As per reports, the company has started with an initial investment of INR 4 lakh and plans to sell around 5,000 shirts in the first year. For future it also plans to add jackets, eyewear, shoes and school bags to its offerings.
The company’s marketing company plans will revolve around social media. “Our value proposition will be the quality products. We will make it sustainable,” said Ishaan.
