Rocket Internet backed, online food delivery chain Foodpanda has recently rolled out its services in Eastern Europe with launch in Czech Republic, with a simultaneous acquisition of MegaMenu in Brazil.
Foodpanda has already expanded its services to Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Hungary previously. As per Peter Varga, Co-Founder and Managing Director Foodpanda Czech Republic, the expansion into Czech Republic aims at encashing the fast emerging market there and envisages further strategic rollouts in the coming months.
Foodpanda which operates under the brand name HelloFood in Brazil acquired MegaMenu, centered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s second largest metropolitan area, just a week after it acquired Brazilian competitor Jánamesa. With this acquisition, Hellofood will now integrate MegaMenu’s 200 restaurants and 4,000 users into it.
As per Marcelo Ferreira, Co-Founder and Managing Director Hellofood Brazil, the transition of MegaMenu users to Hellofood platform will be easy and the MegaMenu users can easily access Hellofood mobile apps to place orders online.
Foodpanda, currently targets over 3 billion people in 28 countries across 5 continents including its presence in Asia, Europe, Africa, North america and Latin America.
Foodpanda’s Global Presence
The other recent acquisitions of Foodpanda include food delivery sites Singapore-Dine in Asia and Etelvitel KFT in Hungary. Also, recently Foodpanda had raised USD 20 million in funding and had also launched mobile app for iOS and Android.
