US based Deluxe Corp acquires email marketing vendor VerticalResponse

The US based, Deluxe Corporations recently made the acquisition of digital marketing company VerticalResponse for an amount of $27 million in a cash transaction. With this deal, the Deluxe will add on the email and social marketing capabilities of the company to its set of services. Also, the deal is expected to generate $12 million in revenue for Deluxe in coming months for FY13.

Based in San Francisco, California, VerticalResponse is a  provider of email marketing, social media, online event marketing, etc. For email marketing, it works on the ‘Pay As You Go” model providing 700+ professional templates to build emails along with the stats telling all about clicks, conversions and how well the emails are performing.

The company will continue to operate independently with its team. Launched in 2001, the 12 years old company employs approximately 110 people and has more than 800,000 users worldwide.

Although the deal was already closed in June, the announcement was made during Deluxe second quarter earning release for FY13, reporting a hike of 14% over the same quarter previous year.

Commenting on the Vertical response acquisition,  Lee Schram, CEO of Deluxe said that VerticalResponse will accelerate the web-based growth efforts with small businesses, adding valuable online promotional and internet marketing services capabilities. The company consider it as a great opportunity to strengthen their  offerings to small businesses and add a seasoned management team.
