Now Delhi commuters can get real time bus info with a new mobile app

It often happens that people feel stressed and annoyed when they have to travel by bus and also the long wait for the right bus adds on to the stress level for a commuter.

In a city like Delhi where a part of population still travel in buses, people do look for some solution to get exact timings of buses so that they can plan while they have to use this public mode of transportation.

Imagine if there would be something which might provide you with all the information you need about the buses, the schedule timings, etc real time?

At the point where the Delhi government is struggling to implement passenger information system on the bus stops with the boards displaying the bus related information, the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS), which manages cluster buses, has launched an App specifically to provide all the relevant bus related information.

The Delhi Transit Bus Info app will provide users with real-time information on bus routes, bus stops, location of bus stops, location of buses on Google map and the estimated time of arrival of buses. The app will also act as a guide by providing the commuters with the suggestive bus to take for reaching their destinations.

For now app will only provide information about the orange Delhi Transit buses, called cluster buses but will soon cover DTC buses as well. It also has a trip planner feature, which provides all the possible bus routes between two points in Delhi and will include DTC routes as well.

The app is available on web and on Android-based devices. Commuters can either go on to the DIMTS website or view the application ‘Delhi transit bus info’ on the beta version which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. The application will also be launched on other platforms including iOS, Blackberry and Symbian.

DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd) is a joint venture of Delhi government and IDFC Foundation.

This would be far more useful if they told you the location of the buses. Often the theoretical bus schedule has no relevance to the real world, especially in Chennai while trying to catch an A/C bus, it’s just blind luck.
