BoxTV, an on demand video streaming source now available on EvoTv

Times Internet’s BoxTV, an online video-on-demand service and Amkette has recently undergone a tie up to make a wide variety of content from available on Amkette’s flagship product – EvoTV.

The partnership will provide BoxTV’s entire library over EvoTV and provide EvoTV’s users with over 10,000 hours of free content of full length movies and television content, across various languages and genres, through its app. BoxTV offers entertainment packages including blockbuster movies, TV shows, short films and documentaries.

EvoTV’s set-top box connects to a TV set with an HDMI cable. With the help of WiFi internet connection, it turns a TV into a powerful gadget to enable gaming, an on demand music/movie station, a large screen application viewing and a dynamic content discovery/social networking stuff.

EvoTV has XBMC, an open source software media player integrated in it, which enables direct playback from Android and iOS devices for EvoTV users.

The integration of BoxTV app on EvoTV platform will provide special features like quick access to recommended movies and its large content library with popular movies, TV shows and several other multimedia features like play, pause etc though a remote control integration.

Launched in February 2013, BoxTV is a premium on demand video streaming startup for Hollywood, Bollywood and other international/regional video content, with its services are available for on a subscription fee of INR 199 in India. The service is also accessible through its smartphone apps.

Speaking on the occasion, Nikhil Bapna, Assistant Vice President, Amkette, said, “Given the rapid rise in consumption of online-video in India, we envisioned and designed EvoTV to be a platform that offers users the convenience of watching OTT content in their living rooms.  BoxTV is a service that has the widest range of premium video content and was a perfect fit for power users and early adopters of OTT services in India.”

The application is available for users to download from ‘EvoStore’ accessible via EvoTV or via the Google Play Store.
