Toypedia – an online toy renting library

Do children feel enthusiastic about their new toy for just a couple of days and then stores it to ever expanding collection of their toy clutter? Considering the total time a child plays with a toy which can be as low as even 10 min vs amount of investment it takes for parent to cope up with the child demands, Toypedia – an online toy renting store, has got the solution.

Toypedia is a Gurgaon based Toy library that allows parents to get a variety of toys for their young kids on rent and once their kids lose interest in the old toy, they can simply return it and order another one. The idea is to let children use and access variety of toys while helping their parents save money.

The company has more than 1600 unique toys in its library from best international brands like Fisherprice, FunSkool, Leapfrog, Hape etc. It provides books, CDs, games, puzzles and toys for kids upto the age of 8 years.

Customers can choose from its several plans to become a member and rent toys through their online portal or by simply walking into their offline store in Gurgaon. Its members can return and borrow new toys through online method, for which Toypedia provide pickup and delivery services. Rather than using any third party logistic service, Toypedia delivers itself and claims the maximum time period of 48 hours, currently only in gurgaon.

The company also allows features such as reserve a toy, if unavailable, and provide a notification as soon as the toy is available in the store – just like how it works in a traditional public library. Another interesting feature it provides is if a member is out of town and is not using the ordered toy, he can simply put the subscription period on FREEZE and can restart the membership as per the use.

For an easy order process, and to help parents borrow what’s good for their kids, each toy has been classified as per the age group and the area of intelligence that it impacts.

Its member are allowed to borrow a maximum of 4 times each month.

Founded in July 2012, the company is already enjoying a good profit margin and plans to expand its delivery services to South Delhi in next couple of months, which will be followed by other major cities in India. In around a year of its operations, it has managed to acquire 550 registered users. “We are expecting more registered customers in future as soon as we start expanding outside Gurgaon” said Vishal Golchha, co-founder,Toypedia.

Its founders, Abhilasha Jain and Vishal Golchha believes that despite of other existing players like Bambaram and Rentoys the industry offers significant growth. With India having more than 12% population under the age of 6 years old in major cities, providing Toys and other kids products has a huge scope and a dominating market.
