comScore, a global digital measurement and analytics company, has released its Video Metrix report revealing that the total online video consumption has got doubled in the past two years to 3.7 billion videos per month in India.
The report includes only the PC users of age 15+ from work and home locations and not mobile and tablets users.
As said, this growth is due to an increase in the number of viewers in online video segment by 74 percent to 54 million viewers, with the average viewer watching 18 percent more videos and spending 28 percent more time viewing.
“The rapid online video growth we’re witnessing in India represents a significant opportunity for both marketers and media companies in India. As the Indian online video market begins to realize the value of its existing inventory while continuing its growth in viewers and consumption time, there will be substantial upside for the key players in this market.” said Kedar Gavane, Senior Director, comScore India.
Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video property in March with 31.5 million unique viewers, followed by Facebook with 18.6 million.
Other video platforms making into the list includes Yahoo Sites, VDOPIA.com, Dailymotion.com etc. On an average each viewer is spending 431 minute in a month on watching online videos.
