Ritesh Agarwal, Co-founder at Oravel, an online platform for short stay accommodation solutions in India has recently won $100k in Thiel fellowship along with 19 other global entrepreneurs.
Founded by Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal, Thiel fellowship brings some of the world’s most innovative and young student entrepreneurs, who are under the age of 20, and provide their businesses with mentorship and other resources. The mentors who will help Ritesh during the program include – Sean Parker (founder of Napster and Elon Musk), Rob Meagley (CEO of One Nanotechnologies), Peter Thiel and several more.
These twenty selected entrepreneurs, including Ritesh Agarwal, founder at Oravel.com, will receive a total of $100,000 and mentorship from Thiel foundation. Ritesh is the only Indian resident who has secured a position in the program.
Oravel, is a New Delhi based startup, is an online marketplace which provides non-hotel accommodation to travellers including, private rooms, serviced apartments, guest houses and bed and breakfasts. It also provide its users theme based properties which offer a unique stay experience to the guests.
Born in Orissa, Ritesh founded Oravel in 2011 after dropping out of his college to startup his own venture at the age of 18. In 2012, Oravel raised seed funding from angels of Venture Nursery after going through their startup accelerator program earlier same year.Category Internet Investments News Startups
