Google cuts prices in its cloud offerings

Google India has announced a 45% reduction in the price of Google Apps for Business, in order to attract more Indian small businesses adopt cloud. The Indian customers now have to pay either INR 150 per user per month or INR 1500 per user per year for the annual plan.

Google Apps package include features as customized email, drive storage, hangout, calender and more. In view of the opportunity to make more business adopt online, Ricky Kapur, Director of Enterprise Sales, Asia says, “India is home to around 47 million small businesses, yet only 1% of these businesses are online. We hope that by making Google Apps more affordable, more small businesses in India will be able to move to the cloud and access a business-ready package of communication and collaboration tools.”

Previously, in Dec 2012, Google has ended the free version of Google apps continuing with only the premium version which costs $50 per user, per year, regardless of the size of the company. Currently it only provides a free trial version of one month for using its services.

Google’s strategic view to grow its core advertising business in India includes getting more and more business go online, which can further behave as its potential advertisers. Programs like India Get Your Business OnlineWomen Entrepreneurs on the Web  are just some Google initiatives in India designed in line of the above strategies as a thought leader in the space.
