Seat14a, an online portal specifically catering to fashion and style statements of men, goes live today in India as updated on its Facebook page. It is one of the 5 companies that received seed funding from 500 startups recently and is previously having its majority customer base in US and Europe. The current launch is however, focused more on Indian men style statement.
Currently operating out of San Francisco and New Delhi, Seat14a is working with quite simple business model. They connect consumers to up and coming designers by working directly with designers and their own manufacturers to come up with micro-collections i.e. 2 – 4 items that make up a complete outfit, at present only for men.
The menswear ‘ensemble’ is then promoted by the use of social media and sending emails every week to the registered members. Also company, in order to bet on social virality is giving away a set free to a lucky member, who has shared it on social.
They have the micro-collection up for about 2 weeks or till it’s sold out; during which time they provide their distribution partners with real-time analytics (purchase velocity, geo, etc.) so they can take informed buying decisions subsequently. And like a cherry on the top, the consumers get the collection of a new designer every two week. The collection price ranges from $99-$299 and is delivered globally without any shipping charges.
Seat14a is a creation of Subtle Disruption, a group of designers, engineers and aesthetes working on products to bring together great people from all over to build interesting companies. Currently its a team of 6 enthusiastic with design, tech and fashion backgrounds.
The recent reports on social media have shown that men around the world are shopping online more than their female counterparts and are also looking for columns which can keep them update about collections that fit their personal style.
With many other players in the space such as Myntra, Jabong, Yebhi etc, which are basically focused on providing variety of merchandise to the users, it would be interesting to watch, a startup catering to the needs of a specific segment and also providing a platform to the aspiring designers to showcase themselves easing out their pain but Seat14a has certainly taken it as a global challenge.Category Ecommerce News Startups
