“India has been a terrific investment and experience for us,” said Mark Pincus, the founder and CEO of social media gaming company Zynga, on his first visit to India. Zynga is the creator of games like FarmVille and CityVille that have had a drug-like effect on millions around the world. Mark at the company’s Bangalore center said that the people here want a really good challenge, and they rise to take that challenge. They don’t sit and scratch their heads or say something is impossible when a task is given to them.
Mark believes that his team in India is having that attitude of taking and facing risks, and that’s very important for any innovating company.
Founded in July 2007 with a mission to connect the world through games, the company’s top three games – FarmVille, FrontierVille and CityVille – accounted for 57 % of online game revenue. Zynga has also started working on real-money games (RMGs). It launched two RMGs –ZyngaPlusPoker and ZyngaPlusCasino — in the UK market, aimed at players who are 18 and above. An industry source recently told TOI that Zynga planned to launch an RMG tailor-made for India.”
