Twitter co-founder Biz Stone after founding Xanga, Blogger, is now working on new “native mobile” startup called Jelly, as announced by Stone in his recent tweet which was short and mysterious and left the people guessing about it..
There are reports that Stone has even hired about four or five employees for his startup that will likely be aimed at smartphones and tablets.
“The news of Jelly emerged unexpectedly early so I’ll wait a bit to share more about the team. In the meantime, I’ll say this. Jelly will be for everybody, it will be developed first and foremost for mobile devices, and it will be free. But, it won’t be ready for a while.” said, Biz Stone.
Stone had left Twitter in mid-2011 and since then he has been working with Twitter co-founder Evan Williams who had stepped down as Twitter’s CEO in late 2010 on a startup incubator called the Obvious Corporation.Since then the two Twitter founders and their team have helped launch startups like Medium and Branch, and worked with or invested in a number of other startups like Neighborland and Findery.
But now after the announcement of Jelly, Stone stated that Jelly will command his full attention aside from some advisory roles elsewhere.
Jack Dorsey, the third co-founder also spends maximum of his time running Square, the mobile payments company he co-founded in 2010 and which is now valued at more than $3 billion.
