One of the co-founder of Freecultr.com, Sujal Shah, has left the company who was working as the CEO since its inception in 2011. Sandeep Singh, former COO of Freecultr has been appointed as the new CEO of the company starting April 2013. Before co-founding Freecultr, Sandeep was a part of the founding team at Quasar, which, however, was later acquired by WPP.
Sujal Shah moved out of Freecultr to work on his entrepreneurial passions of helping international companies to enter in Indian market and incubating and mentoring other startup companies.
FreeCultr, a private label, is one of the incubated brand name of Smile Group that started its operations in December 2011. The company so far has managed to raise two rounds of funding. In December, 2011 it raised $4 million from Sequoia Capital. In series B funding from Ru-Net and Sequoia Capital, FreeCultr managed to raise $9million.
Other private labels Freecultr is competing with are Zovi, DonebyNone, Yepme, Sher Singh ( acquired by Myntra).
