Qubecell, an Indian pure-play mobile payments solution provider has announced that they have raised seed funding December last year. The undisclosed amount of funding is led by Kae Capital. Other investors include Blume Ventures, Mumbai Angels and Russian investor TA Ventures.
The company intends to use the funding amount to work on development of their technology platform, scaling the business in India, and expanding in emerging markets.
Ranjan R Reddy, Founder & Director at Qubecell confirmed it saying, “We will be focusing on markets with characteristics similar to that of India – android and mobile heavy markets. Right now we are concentrating on expansion in India, by next year we will look at markets in Middle East, South Africa, Southeast Asia and maybe even (parts of) Europe”.
Qubecell adds itself amongst other companies in the mobile tech payment solutions category. Some other names in this space are Zaakpay’s Mpay, InMobi’s SmartPay, Paytm, Mobikwik, Bill Junction etc.
Qubecell is a mobile billing aggregator that was founded in 2012. They integrate with operators throughout India and provide payment solutions through carrier billing by monetization of mobile internet traffic, social gaming and mobile services. They also provide mobile app/game/website developers with multiple business model services and price points like event billing and daily, weekly or monthly subscriptions. Their analytics platform provides real time information on the customers to help with recommendations on pricing, content and marketing.
