India Quotient is a venture capital firm that invests in early stage startups that need funds between the angel and Series A stages. It has launched IQ Bootcamp, a free and no contract 50-day incubator that focuses on tech startups. Mobile VAS company One97 Communications and online media company StartupCentral are the partners helping to run this program.
Anand Lunia (India Quotient), Tarun Davda (Matrix Partners), Shailesh Vikram Singh (Seedfund) and Vijay Shekhar Sharma (One97 Communications) are amongst the panel of mentors and selectors; these are the startups that were picked.
Fusedcow: A product information modeling & market intelligence dashboard for building material/product companies.
Clipr: It is a personalized magazine of products for window shopping and gift recommendations.
Eashmart: It enables the user to pay anyone, anytime, anywhere through a mobile or landline, smartphone app, or the website, by adding their credit or debit card to the Eashmart account.
Mealnut: It is an online platform for foodies to discover & buy delicacies made by housewives & chefs. (Also a Morpheus Gang company)
Eezyrent: It enables young bachelors, busy mothers, hard working businessmen & the old parents to easily rent a place, for any purpose or duration.
Buyundercover: Is a lingerie fashion brand geared towards the Indian woman that offers an extensive line of sensuous lingerie and nightwear.
Gaglers: Is a hosted messaging platform built for online marketplaces that connects a seller of the marketplace with their buyers via email and instant messages.
StoreMonk: StoreMonk is a SaaS based retail venture. It enables smarter business transactions and instant gratification for merchants wanting to go online.
Dawa: An online platform for purchase of medicines.
Imly: A platform for finding and connecting with home based chefs making home cook food.
Tutor Aider: SaaS software for tuition teachers, training institutes.
IQ Bootcamp’s website says that they are looking for “young, talented and ambitious coders, software engineers and technology enthusiasts who want to build disruptive technology products or services for the Indian market. With a preference for teams of 2 or 3 where the team is sufficient enough to release an alpha version of their product, the first batch will be restricted to only those who want to work in web and mobile consumer services”.
A series of workshops during the program will help teams cultivate their ideas and create technology products, and will cover aspects of coding, designing and a tour of startups and venture capital firms.
The almost 7 week long bootcamp will start on April 15th 2013 and conclude on the Demo Day with participants pitching their end result ideas to VCs and investors. The bootcamp will also be providing space in Mumbai for the duration.
