Focus group, an advertising and digital media agency, launched Worldoo, aiming children group of 6-12 years, along with partners such as, Amar Chitra Katha, Landmark, Champak, Sentosa and Sony Pictures.
The Worldoo.com is launched as a world of fun, knowledge, creativity and excitement, exclusively for children. To get an access, children first need to get their parents consent. The Focus Group MD, Manish Ghatalia also ensures that the site content will be monitored on regular basis.
When you first open the site, it features Mainland which involves a kind of site map in 3D images.The site offers a platform where they can live, express and play.The kids can explore games, Cartoons, Knowledge about Science and Animals and can also participate in various activities and contests to earn stars and badges which they can spend at the DOO STORE on toys and decorations for your DOO HOME, their own home at Worldoo. The kids can also increase their social network by adding friends on the website.
“For monetising, the focus will be more on branding that can fit into the website. There will be no banner ads as then the traffic would be directed to other websites, which we will not be able to monitor,” said Ghatalia.
This venture has lead a way to a new segment in internet business which was widely untapped in Indian markets. However, it will be worth watching that in an era, where parents and media are debating on the pros and cons of internet for youth of the country, will parents be allowing their kids an access to the internet world at such an early age.
