Social Network LocalCircles gets investment from Godrej

Delhi based Social Network startup, LocalCircles has raised an undisclosed amount of funds from Nadir Godrej, Managing Director of Godrej Industries and with this, now Nadir is also the member advisory board of LocalCircles.

Speaking on the reason behind this investment, Nadir Godrej, Managing Director, Godrej Industries, said “I thought this was an unusual development. They are trying to bring local communities together, bringing considerable amount of social value, and that attracted me.”

Nadir also believes that that LocalCircles will be a key enabler in simplifying daily lives of people through credible information.

Sachin Taparia, Chairman and Managing Director, LocalCircles, said, “We are using the capital for continued development of a world class technology platform, information organization and community outreach. In the next round of capital raising, LocalCircles will be raising another $2M.” Adding to this he also said, “A good bit of current and future capital raised will be used towards community outreach and building strong local communities in Delhi/NCR followed by other cities in India.”

Apart from Nadir, R. C. Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki, is also the member of advisory board of LocalCircles.

LocalCircles is a comprehensive local social network for daily life, it allows a citizen to connect with all of their local communities (neighbors, colleagues, parents/teachers, local friends/family and common interest locals) in one place, easily find credible local information (finding a trusted pediatrician, a or how to get their child admitted to a particular school) and easily seek emergency assistance (fire, medical, women safety, blood) from their local communities.
