Snapdeal Launches Mobile App to Target Additional Consumers and Increase Convenience

With the growing penetration of Internet Mobile users, and their online buying trends driven by convenient ways to access internet via mobile, online retailers are looking at ways to tap into this market. In a move aimed at capturing this market, Snapdeal has launched an Android App after launching a WAP site few days earlier to target Android Smartphone Users and boost their sales through the medium.

The app aims to provide on-the-go access to various brands and products showcased on Snapdeal’s site. The app will also generate suggested products’ based on user browsing history and as well as location, which will be accessed by the App from the users mobile, also with integrated payment options, with COD among it.

Speaking on the launch, Rishabh Arora, Head – Mobile Initiatives at Snapdeal.com, said, “There are millions of Android users in India and this app will be a great way of reaching out to these users and providing a seamless shopping experience on their smart phones. We will work towards building one of the best Android apps in this domain”

The app has received 500+ Downloads till now which is expected to rise quickly among users of Snapdeal.com.  Using the app, one can find deals in their locality, make a payment on-the-go, get the coupon on the app and redeem it. The app is quite convenient as it provides a good mechanism for buying on Snapdeal, but it may lead to intrusion of privacy as the app requires a number of permissions to access user information and profile.

Speaking about similar apps for other platforms, Rishabh said, “We will continue to optimize the features and are in the process of rolling out apps for other platforms such as, iOS & Blackberry too.”

The overall market of shopping apps in Indian has been evolving with new app launches and rolling-out of upgrades happening every month. Other mobile shopping apps available to users are from Ebay India, NGPay, Naaptol.
