The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has released industry data based on absolute numbers collected from various companies. According to the ‘Internet Economy Watch’ data released today, there is a huge spurt in e-tailing of branded apparels with sites registering 5 million visits in the month of April, this year as compared to 2.54 million visits in April 2011, followed by Footwear, Designer Labels, Jewellery and Spa/Restaurant. The data for these categories has been collected from 15 e-commerce sites.

The fashion etailing industry has been witnessing huge demand and traction in the market with a lot of site launches recently such as Rock.In, Fashionara, ShopNineteen, Outletwise etc. The trend has now been verified with data from IAMAI, which indicates an almost 100% annual growth in the fashion etailing space. The fashion and lifestyle space already has established players such as Fashion & You, Myntra, Yebhi, Jabong, as well as multi-channel retailers such as Shoppers Stop etc.
The IAMAI report also tracks the data for other internet based categories, such as Online Travel and Vertical Classifieds with data coming in from sites operating in these segments.
As per the IAMAI report, online recruitment portals have witnessed an increase of 0.23 million resumes with 2.05 million uploads in April 2012, as compared to 1.82 million uploads in April 2011. The number of profile uploads on matrimonial websites has increased to 2.74 million during April 2012 from 1.35 million in April 2011. The data is captured from four online recruitment sites while matrimonial data is based on 29 websites.

E-ticketing continues to grow with irctc.com recording 5.56 million bookings in April, 2012 as compared to 2.26 million bookings in April 2011. Airlines recorded 1.92 million bookings in April 2012, as compared to 1.01 million bookings in April 2011. The data for online travel is based on absolute numbers captured from nine websites.
