Another Retail Industry Leader Shifts Online; Ganesh Subramanium joins Myntra as CMO

Myntra.com, a leading player in the online retail market has appointed Ganesh Subramanian as its Chief Merchandising Officer. Ganesh has over 20 years of rich and diverse experience in the retail and fashion industry and will be responsible for all product selections at Myntra.

Prior to joining Myntra, Ganesh was the Vice President – Softlines business of the Bharti – Walmart joint venture where he helped establish and reposition fashion in the hypermarket business. He has earlier played a key role at Reliance Trends as its Asst. Vice President – Apparel and was instrumental in the launch of super premium brand Tommy Hilfiger (an Arvind Brands joint venture) in India during his tenure as their Head of Operations.

Speaking on his transition to the online retail format, Ganesh said “Consumer proximity and fashion have always fascinated me – it is a natural progression and I am excited to be a part of this online world serving Indian consumers”.

Ganesh brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in merchandising & planning and will be playing a key role in taking Myntra’s catalog and offering to next level.”

Myntra had recently raised USD 20 Mn from Tiger Global, and is targeting revenues of Rs 500 crores in the financial year 2012- 2013. The company which entered the lifestyle and fashion retailing segment in December 2010 has registered over 10x growth in 2011.
