Exclusive: Multi branded etail store opens for transactions, claims to ship products to 220 countries

Ambareesh Murty led; an online retailer based out of Mumbai unveiled its beta version, now consumers can buy the product showcased on its website. Pepperfry is a multi-branded online store and at present it offers around 25,000 products featuring furniture, home decor, accessories (men & women) apparel (men & women), Perfumes and cosmetic, precious jewellery, fashion jewellery and diamond and gems as categories on its home page. The venture has already raised $ 5 million in series ‘A’ funding from Norwest Venture Partners India (NVP India).

The site claims to ship products to 220 countries across the world and over 17,000 pin codes in India; however for international shipments, consumers will have to shell out additional shipping cost. It supports Visa, Mastercard and Maestro enabled plastic payments option including Cash on Delivery (COD), meanwhile COD is meant only for Indian consumers. The number of days for delivering the products varies on the nature of the product purchase and delivery timeline for each product has been mentioned as one’s proceed to buy. It also offers EMI facility for products above Rs 3000.   Pepperfry has 30 days return policy through which customer can return the product, stating a valid reason and get his money back. However, the policy applies to all products except inner wear, swim wear, furniture, loose diamonds, loose gemstones and items that are made to order.

Apart from individual orders also offer bulk orders for events and ceremonies like college festivals& alumni meets, employee trainings & for company events, festival gifting including special celebration like wedding etc. It boasts off functionality like brand filters to consumers so that they shop the collection of specific brands such as Lotto, Casio, Peter England, Beverly Hills, Allen Solly, Crew Republica, and Enigma including many others. It also let users to create their profile, wish-list and shopping bag.

Currently it has 3 warehouses in India located in Mumbai, Delhi and Jodhpur and its logistics part is being taken care of by third party logistics players like BlueDart, AFL, Quantium and India Post. On security front, it claims to keep consumer’s personal information safe and has secure server software (SSL) mechanism to ensure security concerns.
