Exclusive: Amazon to launch its marketplace by mid February

Amazon may go live in as early as two weeks; this is what seems from information accessed by iamwire through multiple reliable sources.

According to the sources, Amazon has been asking the sellers to ramp up their preparation as it expects an upsurge in customer traffic around its launch. The Amazon’s instructions for sellers certainly indicate that it will roll out its marketplace model by the first half of the February.

One of the sources said that Amazon has also issued general guidelines as best practices for sellers to acquire customers and orders through Amazon’s new site dedicated to India.

Earlier, iamwire broke out the news, the world’s largest Internet retailer Amazon.com Inc is setting up its first “fulfillment center” in India. The fulfillment center is based in Mumbai, the biggest city in the country. While the real countdown begins for Amazon to go live for the India’s market, it would really interesting to see how online retail in India will unfold and somewhat reformed aftermath its launch.
