Mahindra ventured in to etail, launches targeting motherhood & kids segments

The US $12.5 billion Mahindra Group has made its online retail debut through, an online multibranded store primarily selling parenting, kids and pregnancy related products. It caters to the life stage of -9 months to +9 years of the mothers and their children. The concept is built around the unique needs of first-time moms, moms-to-be, infants and children up to the age of nine. showcases indigenous as well as international brands encompassing various needs of moms and kids in this life stage, including maternity fashion, women’s ethnic fashion, mother’s wellness, baby wellness, nourishing & nurture toys, kids fashion, kids’ footwear, travel, safety, and furniture & furnishing.

Prior to its online debut, Mahindra Retail runs the specialty retail chain for Mother & Child under the name of Mom & Me launched in 2009. Currently, it has around 50 stores extending to more than 20 cities including Delhi, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Pune.

At first look website seems well organized and has new features for consumers to shop through filters such as brands, age group and budget (prices). It also features mom &  me solutions like first wardrobe, travel and exposure, nourish and feed, nourishing and nurture and bath & wellness. At present website offers 24 brands including Nuk, Madela, Graco, Evenflo, CAM, Quercetti, B Kids, Fisher Price, Barbie to its consumers. Apart from all these it also offers user to create their profile page, wishlist and shopping cart.

It claims to deliver orders across India in about 3-10 days depending on location; however it also charges a flat shipping fee of Rs 80 per order (total cart value). The website only supports HDFC based credit cards and does not offer Cash on Delivery (COD) as payment option. will compete with existing players in this space like firstcry and Babyoye and has been powered by Octashop.
